about

I wrote almost this entire song in around 10 minutes. Most of the really good ones are like that for me. When inspiration strikes, it comes quickly. This song also doubles nicely as a fitting album title. :-)

I'm also proud of the saxophone part. While it's just a keyboard being used to play it, it still sounds reasonably good (in my opinion). Certainly not as good as the real thing, but a poor man's substitute.

lyrics

I recognized your smile
Your eyes are still the same
As all those years ago
When I first loved you so

Still I was surprised to find
You have a brand new name
Wish you had let me know
Wish you had told me so

I never dreamed
If you were free again
That I could lose
And you would choose another him

For the second time
I'm on the outside looking in
I lost the love of a lifetime
Again

I thought we'd both decided
If your situation changed
You'd get in touch with me
You'd save your love for me

Though I wanted you for mine
There's only so much I could say
I had to let it be
You had no room for me

I never dreamed
If you were free again
That I could lose
And you would choose another him

For the second time
I'm on the outside looking in
I lost the love of a lifetime
Again
